A hernia is one of the painful medical conditions that occurs when an organ is protruding out into the weak area that has been surrounded by a weak tissue or muscle. People who undergo this problem have to undergo proper medical attention so that the condition does not worsen. It is highly recommended to get in touch with a medical practitioner who can suggest the best way to get rid of this problem. It is also fortunate that hernias in Sebring can be prevented from occurring in the human body.

    Common Symptoms of a Hernia

Some of the signs and symptoms include the following:

    • Pressure, weakness, and heaviness in the hernia.
    • Pain in the area where the hernia has occurred when the person coughs, bends over, and lifts objects.
    • Aching and burning sensation in the abdomen.
    • Acid reflux.
    • Trouble swallowing.
    • Chest pain.

    Preventive Measures

If you want to prevent it from occurring, you must follow the below-mentioned tips:

    • Maintaining a healthy weight

Weight can be one of the reasons why a hernia may happen. That’s why you should maintain an ideal body weight. Excessive body weight can put additional pressure on the abdomen and causes weakness in the walls. The weight also pushes the abdominal muscles while moving, exercising, lifting objects, and evening riding bicycles.

    • Lifting objects carefully

When you lift objects, the pressure comes on the muscles of the lower abdomen.  The major concern is for athletes and weightlifters because they are at greater risk of hernia. Workers at construction sites are also at a higher risk. It is strongly recommended to lift the objects carefully and if you need, it is advisable to get help from someone else. It is not a good idea to lift objects in a rush. You should do it slowly and steadily.

    • Performing exercises

In order to increase the strength of the abdomen and pelvic muscles, you must perform exercises on a regular basis. The planks and push-ups are the best exercises that enhance the muscle strength of a person. You can also join fitness or Yoga clubs to perform these exercises.

    • Controlling diabetes

If you want to prevent a hernia from occurring, you should control diabetes. People who have diabetes get more complications after the surgery to be done to correct this medical condition. They take more time to recover after the surgery.

Hernias can be treated properly with the help of a qualified doctor.
