Chest pain can be a scary symptom, but it doesn’t always mean you have a heart attack. There are many possible causes of Bakersfield chest pain, ranging from benign (not dangerous) to life-threatening.

If you are experiencing chest pain, the best thing is to call your doctor. They can help determine the cause of your pain and provide treatment if necessary. There are different types of chest pains, including:

    • Acute chest pain: This type of chest pain is sudden and severe. It may signify a heart attack.
    • Chronic chest pain: This type of chest pain is ongoing and lasts for more than three months. It can signify several health conditions, such as heart disease, lung disease, or stomach problems.
    • Chest pain due to exercise: This type of chest pain is caused by physical activity and usually goes away once you stop exercising. It is usually not a sign of a severe problem.

Below are situations when to talk to a doctor regarding chest pain:

    If the pain is severe

When experiencing severe pain, it is vital to seek immediate medical attention. Chest severe pain that comes on suddenly can signify a heart attack.

If the other symptoms accompany the pain

If you are experiencing chest pain and other concerning symptoms, such as shortness of breath, sweating, or lightheadedness, it is essential to seek medical help. These symptoms could indicate a more severe problem, such as a heart attack.

If the pain does not go away

If the chest pain does not go away after a few minutes, consider seeing your physician. It could be a sign of a more severe problem.

If you are over the age of 65

As people get older, they are more likely to experience health problems. If you are over the age of 65 and experiencing chest pain, it is essential to see a doctor to determine the cause.

If you have a history of heart problems

If you have a history of heart problems, it is essential to seek medical help if you experience chest pain. It could be a sign of a heart attack or another problem with your heart.

    If you are pregnant

Chest pain can signify different things during pregnancy, including problems with the baby, the placenta, or the umbilical cord. If you are pregnant and experience chest pain, consult your doctor.

If the pain is accompanied by vomiting

If the chest pain brings about vomiting, it could signify a more serious problem, such as a heart attack. In this case, it is important to seek medical help immediately.

    If you are a smoker

Smoking can increase the risk of developing health problems, including heart attacks. If you are a smoker and have chest pain, consider visiting your doctor.

    If you experience general fatigue

Chest pain can signify many different things, including other health problems. Consult a doctor if you are not feeling well overall and experience chest pain.
